Massive thanks again to ‘Your RAK’ Charity shop in Burham. Nickie S, her family and the many local residents that support the shop have smashed it again and raised even more money for Oasis this year- Over £6500 had been donated to us. We are very grateful to receive donations such as this a they enable us to provide services that are not core funded, but are needed in our communities. Last years donation helped us reach and engage over 120 people, including helping us initiate a new Cafe social event – The Reconnect Cafe, and as a lasting tribute to the support for our ArtBox project – we are permanently painting several BT boxes in Chesham town centre – there is of course a reference to YourRAK being included.
This year, as part of our 40th Anniversary celebrations and as a thank you, we plan to give something back to the residents of Burnham. We have some ideas about a Pop up – Harm Reduction Cafe event possibly with music. We intend to consult with the Burnham community further, promoting our ideas and seeking others ideas and opportunities. We had used some of the donated funds to pilot our Sober Sounds event – which was a success and will now become part of our regular monthly timetable, and hopefully part of what we can offer in Burnham.
